Resumo

This paper offers one way to verify the existence of dominant convergence trends in the market of legal ideas. By looking through the history of judicial review in Brazil, it aims to sketch some intuitions on the changing influences that can be spotted in such market. Being a peripheral jurisdiction and a traditional importer of legal ideas and doctrines, Brazil is relatively open to foreign influences and international trends. It is, in this sense, a good proxy of any domination occasionally being exerted. Thus, paying attention to the evolution of judicial review in Brazil can be a way to identify global developments.
